Biography

Lisa Jin is a 15 year old who currently attends Jericho High School in Jericho, New York. She began playing the viola at 6 years old and has been playing for 9 years. She currently studies with Carol Rodland in the Pre-College Division at the Juilliard School of Music. Lisa's musical accomplishments include winning First Prize in the 2023 American Protégé International Concerto Competition and the 5th edition GLORY International Strings, Winds, and Percussion Competition. She also placed 3rd in the 2023 Camerata Artists International Competition Concerto and has performed at many prestigious halls, including Carnegie Hall.

Lisa enjoys giving back to her community through music outreach projects. She is the President and Founder of Heart of Music Inc, a nonprofit organization dedicated to spreading the joy of music through performances at community centers and senior residences. Click here to learn more.

Outside of music, Lisa enjoys solving competition math problems. In 2021, she qualified for American Mathematics Competition (AMC) 8's Honor Roll (Top 5% Scores). In the summer of 2022, Lisa participated in Awesome Math's Summer Program and UPenn's Summer Mathematics Academy. In 2023, Lisa qualified for the American Invitational Mathematics Examination (AIME).

Lisa also enjoys solving olympiad-style Chemistry problems. In addition, Lisa enjoys playing badminton. She was on Jericho's JV Badminton team in 2022, but due to a time conflict with Juilliard pre-college's Saturday classes, she was unable to continue playing on her school's team. However, she still regularly plays badminton at Long Island Sports Center.
